Pompano Beach, Fla. - Sean Rayhall and 8Star Motorsports finished second in Race One of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tire today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rayhall accomplished his first second-place finish and podium in only his third race in the Mazda-powered Dallara IL-15.

The 20-year old, who qualified in third place with a time of 1m15.318s, had a great start, quickly jumping into second place and almost completing the pass for first place in Turn One. Rayhall used all his experience at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to keep second position until the end of the race over both Carlin cars.

“I have no words to explain this feeling,” said an emotional Rayhall. "It was a great race. I have to thank 8Star Motorsports, Edvisors, Bass Egg and everyone that has made it possible for me to participate in the Indy Lights championship. The team worked really hard and the car was amazing out there. Now we have to concentrate on Race Two."

“I am really proud of Sean (Rayhall) and all of the 8Star Motorsports team," said team owner Enzo Potolicchio. After "only three races with Sean in the car we have accomplished this second place finish at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Now we have to focus on Race Two tomorrow (Saturday) and try to finish in the podium once again."

Race Two at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be Saturday at 1:25pm. You can follow it through and the Mazda Road to Indy app.
