Winning Road to Indy team runs through positive testing plan in top-tier debut

SEBRING, Fla. – Exclusive Autosport completed its first official Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires series test at Sebring International Raceway on Thursday afternoon, wrapping up the successful two-day outing with Road To Indy Presented by Cooper Tires veteran Nikita Lastochkin piloting their Dallara IL-15 for a total of 142 laps on the facility’s short course.

The team arrived at the famed Florida circuit with a set game plan, ticking off all the boxes necessary for a team expanding to the top tier of the RTI program, showing extremely well right out of the box. Lastochkin led a majority of the second session on Wednesday as the team unleashed their driver to push the car to its limits on the challenging track. The team was extremely happy with the results of the test and their impressive pace bodes well for the 2020 season. With a full ladder of teams and cars from F1600 through USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000 into Indy Lights, Exclusive Autosport is the only operation in the sport with their own internal ladder program to the front door of the NTT IndyCar Series.

“Overall, I am really proud of how our first official Indy Lights test went at Sebring,” said Michael Duncalfe, Team Principal. “We showed that we have speed right out of the box. Nikita was strong behind the wheel over the past few days. This test gave us a good benchmark as we continue preparations for the 2020 championship season. I am confident that Exclusive Autosport will be in the championship hunt.”

Wet weather affected the overall amount of quality track time during the test, but the Exclusive Autosport Indy Lights engineering staff stayed true to their plan and gave Lastochkin the quality laps he needed.  A veteran of both the USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000 series, the Russian-born Los Angeles, Calif. resident was extremely complimentary about the Dallara IL-15 package as well as the team, with whom he raced in 2019.

“I could not be happier with how the test went,” Lastochkin enthused. “We were quick and competitive right out the box and finished the first day only two hundredths short of P1. As always, Michael Duncalfe was able to put a top group of people together. Considering it was our first official test day together, I’m sure the team will only go from strength to strength. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this such a successful first test.”

Having only announced the formation of their Indy Lights squad in late September, then taking delivery of their cars in mid-October, the Exclusive Autosport crew (under the direction of Mirl Swan) did an incredible job preparing their cars for the official Sebring test.

“We have an experienced crew put together for our Indy Lights effort and I cannot thank them enough for the hard work they put in to make sure we were ready for Sebring,” Duncalfe added.

Exclusive Autosport has officially set their eyes on the 2020 season and will continue their program with significant off-season testing. Any drivers interested in one of the team’s available seats - from their championship-winning F1600 team up to their Indy Lights program - are asked to contact team owner Michael Duncalfe at ExclusiveManagement@shaw.ca.

Exclusive Autosport is pleased to be able to partner with great companies, such as AERO™ Advanced Paint Technology (www.rethinkpaint.com), which is used on all their race cars.
