BROWNSBURG, Ind.– It’s been over a month since Gabby Chaves steered his #5 Belardi Auto Racing Indy Lights Dallara into the Freedom 100 victory lane at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but the emotion and excitement of the triumph is still a prime motivator as the team heads for Pocono Raceway this weekend (July 4-5) for the eighth round of the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires championship. Chaves finished third during last year’s Indy Lights trip to Pocono and will be aiming for the top step of the podium this time around, arriving as the co-leader in the series point standings.

“I’m really excited to get back in the Indy lights ‘office,’” Chaves admitted. “It’s been a long turnover since our win in the Freedom 100. We got to celebrate and enjoy it, but now it’s time to focus on this weekend. We want to use our winning momentum to build a bigger points lead and keep going after those wins!”

Chaves turned the tables at Indianapolis, out-running Matthew Brabham for the win in a finish that was a mirror image of the 2013 edition that saw him on the losing end. The thrill of victory has fueled Chaves and his Belardi Auto Racing team and they are now focusing on gunning for the series championship and the series begins the second half of the 2014 schedule.

Chaves and the Belardi crew will be on track at Pocono Raceway on Friday, July 4 for two test sessions, ahead of a single day of flat-out competition on Saturday. The 45-minute initial practice session will take place at 9:00 am Eastern, and qualifying is set for 12:30 pm. The 40-lap main event, the eighth round of the 2014 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires series, is scheduled to go green at 3:45 pm. Live audio will be available for all three sessions through the IMS Radio Network.

The Belardi Auto Racing squad will head to north of the border for their next events, bringing both their USF2000 Championship and Indy Lights teams to the streets of Toronto, Ontario, Canada on July 18-20 for the Honda Indy Toronto.
