LEXINGTON, Ohio - The first day of the Cooper Tires Indy Lights Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio race weekend started off with all three cars performing in a promising direction. Shelby Blackstock led the Andretti trio completing this morning's session in second. Blackstock has a strong history with the 13-turn track finishing on the podium of last year's Race 1. Dalton Kellett also showed impressive speeds before claiming the seventh position at the checkers of Practice 1. Kellett will try to continue his streak of Mid-Ohio top 10s into his Indy Lights career. Dean Stoneman claimed the eighth position as the time expired for the first on-track session of the weekend. Stoneman looks to redeem his position for championship contention following this weekend's double-header.

Practice 2 was checkered due to weather conditions before any cars felt comfortable taking the track. Indy Lights qualifying will serve as a wake-up call to the campers when the session goes green tomorrow morning at 7:50 a.m. followed by Race 1 at 3:30 p.m.

Shelby Blackstock – No. 51 Starstruck Mazda

“Practice 1 went really, really well for the team. The car started fast right out of the gates. It was definitely a good job by the team to work hard from Toronto to here to get back on par, and the car definitely showed improvement – we went back and forth between P1 and P2.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get to go out for Practice 2 due to the rain. We’ll see what the weather holds for us for qualifying. Rain or shine we’ll go out and give it our all and hopefully get a pole position out of it. Thanks to the team for all their hard work.”

Dalton Kellett – No. 28 K-LINE Insulators USA, Inc. Mazda

“It was a good start to the day in Practice 1. Most of the session we were running in the top four, the team did a great job getting everything set up for Mid-Ohio. We unfortunately didn’t get to run our afternoon practice – there was quite a bit of rain coming down and they checkered the session due to the weather conditions. Since we didn’t go out, we were able to spare our Cooper Tire wets for the race tomorrow - which has rain in the forecast.  Looking forward to qualifying tomorrow and we’ll see how the K-LINE Mazda performs.”

Dean Stoneman – No. 27 Stellrecht Mazda

“This morning we went out on new tires and we weren’t that far out of the order, but we were going to try more things out to see how we settled in for the second session. Unfortunately, the rain is still coming down and we’ve changed the car. I think in tomorrow’s qualifying, if it doesn’t stop raining for the session we can go out and just see what the car is like but there is a very slim chance. Tomorrow will be a big change in qualifying as there will be a slightly different set up on the car. We’ll see how we get on tomorrow.”
