The trio of Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires drivers took the track at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval today for two test sessions prior to practice for the Freedom 100 later this week. With the day presenting race-like conditions, it was the perfect opportunity to get rookies Dalton Kellett and Dean Stoneman familiar with the track and refresh veteran driver Shelby Blackstock on the 2.5 mile track.

Freedom 100 festivities begin Thursday with practice and qualifying for Friday's 40-Lap race. Follow along with live timing and scoring via racecontrol.indycar.com or the Road To Indy TV app.

DALTON KELLETT
NO. 28 K-LINE INSULATORS USA, INC. MAZDA

"Definitely an awesome first day here at IMS. That was probably one of the most fun days I’ve ever had in a race car. It’s an absolute honor to get to drive on this track and the Andretti Autosport guys did a great job in giving us a fast K-Line Insulators, USA car that I have a lot of confidence in. So I think we should be very well prepared going in to qualifying and the race. We had a chance to do some pack running toward the end of the practice and everyone is racing good and clean so I am really looking forward to the Freedom 100 on Friday.”

DEAN STONEMAN
NO. 27 STELLRECHT MAZDA
“It was a new learning curve today on the 2.5-mile oval. We’d been trying things out on the Stellrecht car but we were missing that one little thing we’d been looking for. We made a change to the car for our last run and that had seemed to make a big improvement, so we’re looking forward to Thursday now that we have found the missing piece. We have another three hours to practice on Thursday so I think we can improve the car quite a bit more, but I feel overall it has been a good day."

SHELBY BLACKSTOCK
NO. 51 STARSTRUCK MAZDA

"Overall, it was a super fun day for the Starstruck team. The car is much better than what we started with last year here – very, very good right off the bat. We have some speed for qualifying, but the good news is we have a really good race car. I think the whole series was out running at the end and that was the most fun I’ve had in a race car in a long time. I’m looking forward to coming back out on Thursday and getting some more track time. Thanks to the Andretti Autosport team for their hard work. We’ll see where we stack up on Thursday."
