Zach Veach, No. 26 RePLAY XD

  • 19-year-old series sophomore topped the charts for Indy Lights' lone practice session at his home track
  • He and teammate Matthew Brabham will be back on track for qualifying and Race One Saturday

"I'm definitely happy to be here at Mid-Ohio - it's my home track, so maybe we have a home track advantage. We were able to end up P1 today, and we'll be going into qualifying tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.; I really hope we can take that momentum in the RePLAY XD car and get another pole and hopefully another win to put us ahead in the championship. I just want to thank my Andretti Autosport team for doing such a great job today. We came from a little behind and we're trucking forward now."

Matthew Brabham, No. 83 United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED

  • Third-generation racer was seen second quickest on the charts prior to getting loose and damaging the rear end of the car
  • After a total of seven laps of practice, the 20-year-old was shown in P7

"I'm fine, thankfully (after my incident). I'm just a little winded, but other than that I'm good, so that's the important thing. I was fighting the car a little bit... I was loose every now and again. The corner that I lost it in is one of those corners where you kind of throw the car in and it grips up later on. I was a little too sideways, and I just threw it in a little too much. It gripped, and as it did, I had my outside rear wheel on the curb; it just lost grip and I spun. The wall is really close there on the edge of the track, and before I knew it, I was in the wall. Not the best of practice sessions, but it's better to do it now than in the race or qualifying. We have time to fix the United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED car, and we'll be out there tomorrow."
