HMD Turtle Plastics Flint 2020
In light of the recent COVID-19 crisis, the team partners at HMD Motorsports, HMD Trucking and Turtle Plastics have joined together to help deliver emergency relief water to the city of Flint, Michigan.

Brought together through the team's business-to-business program with help from RTD Media & Management, HMD Trucking and Turtle Plastics joined forces with the National Clean Water Collective, WS Darley & Co. Water, and Wristsponsible in order to deliver 5000 gallons of water from Dallas, Texas to the city of Flint. On Friday, April 17th, HMD Trucking trailers pulled into the city carrying twenty-three pallets of water ready to be distributed to those in need throughout the city this week.

Since its beginnings, Turtle Plastics has long been committed to supporting communities, both locally and internationally.

"Turtle Plastics has a long history of supporting communities locally and internationally. We are very committed to being good corporate citizens to our customers and to the community at large.
Founder Tom Norton and his wife, Dr. Karen Bradley, are generous philanthropists who share their energy and resources for a better world. Their focus on serving others serves as an inspiration and a model for our company.
In 2017, Tom and Karen established The Turtle Plastics Foundation, a broad-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate, create, support, and promote educational, environmental, health, and safety initiatives worldwide. The Foundation accomplishes this mission through grants, donations, public awareness events, and other marketing efforts." - TurtlePlastics.com/Community-Foundation

HMD Trucking and Turtle Plastics joined the influence of the National Clean Water Collective to provide support to the residence of Flint during these trying times.

"The National Clean Water Collective (NCWC) is a registered non-profit grassroots organization that has provided more than $250k worth of vital supplies and support to the residents of Flint, Michigan. We developed a short-term relief plan that provides immediate assistance and are establishing a network of activists, volunteers, and other organizations around the country to help develop long term solutions for a more sustainable Flint and nation. Our team understands the importance of bringing scientists, engineers, activists, organizers, business men and women, and policy-makers together to confront America's deepening water crisis." - NationalCleanWater.org

In an effort to help promote this endeavor, the National Clean Water Collective and Turtle Plastics have also paired up with American actor, author and activist, Hill Harper, known for his roles on CSI: NY and The Good Doctor. Harper set up a GoFundMe page that has generated over $30,000 in donations for the City of Flint.

"Residents of Flint, MI have been suffering the past six years fighting the life-damaging and lethal effects caused by the lead found in their water system," Harper posted to the page.  "Today, the city's plight deepens with the scarce supply of clean drinking water available during this pandemic.  Flint is one of the poorest cities in the country with 41% of the residents living below the poverty line and most all residents with no continuous access to clean water.  Most of the residents in poverty are young families.  Flint needs our help!"

After a successful operation, WS Darley & Co. Water, along with the others involved, hope to continue an extended partnership with HMD Trucking on more shipping logistics opportunities around emergency relief water and environmental justice.
